Typically found in the South West of France, these pots were used in the late 18th and 19th century for preserving foods.
The top half has a caramel glaze and a beautiful patina and an almost oxidised copper green effect in places. The bottom half is unglazed. It has not been tested for water-tightness, and is sold as a decorative object.
This is a very old and well used item with many decades of use. As such, it has age-related marks, scratches and scrapes which enhance its rustic appeal.
