A 20th Century wooden printers tray, used for keeping letters organised for use in typesetting for the letterpress printers. The terms 'upper case' and 'lower case' letters come from the capital letters being stored in the upper cases, and the other letters in the lower cases.
This is a very old and well used item with many decades of use. As such, it has age-related marks, scratches and scrapes which enhance its rustic appeal.
