Typically found in the South West of France, these pots were used in the late 18th and 19th century for preserving meats in fat, especially duck, which is a local speciality.
The top half has a green glaze with great patterns from wear, various marks and indentations and a beautiful patina. The bottom half is unglazed.
This style of green confit pots are even more rare than the yellow pots, due to their age and also the distinctive wide handles on this pot.
This is a very old and well used item with many decades of use. As such, it has age-related marks, scratches and scrapes which enhance its rustic appeal. It has not been tested for water-tightness, and is sold as a decorative object.
