This pair of ornate wall mounted shelves originally date from the early 19th Century. Later in their life, they have had an addition of a larger shelf beautifully painted in tromp l'oiel faux marble.
The patina on the gilding offers both character and an insight into their age.
This is a very old and well used item with many decades of use. As such, it has age-related marks, scratches and scrapes which enhance its rustic appeal. It has slight signs of historic woodworm (as does most furniture of this age), but has been treated.
